EAAP has been delivering programs on animal science for over 70 years. After careful planning, we are this year going to provide some outstanding webinars by inviting top speakers who will introduce subjects related to animal science and the livestock industry to scientists and technicians.
The Webinar series is planned to be organized monthly to inform, update, and disseminate with high-profile speakers the EAAP individual members.
Epigenetics is opening new possibilities in animal breeding by revealing how environmental factors can influence gene expression without altering the DNA sequence. This knowledge helps breeders select animals with desirable traits more effectively.
By understanding the epigenetic markers, breeders can better predict an animal’s production potential and adaptability to various environmental conditions, enabling more precise and sustainable breeding practices. In addition, epigenetic studies, such as those on sperm and blood epigenomes, can enhance the selection process by identifying biomarkers that indicate disease resistance and overall health, ultimately improving livestock performance and welfare.
The 29th EAAP Webinar titled Advances in Animal Epigenetics: Driving Research and Breeding Forward is organised in collaboration with Illumina. At the forefront of the genomics revolution for decades, Illumina develops innovative sequencing and array-based life science technologies that enable animal researchers and breeders to improve livestock health and productivity.
