Feeding the Green Deal: Specialty Feed Ingredients’ Contribution to Environmental Sustainability

  • When: Tuesday, April 12th 2022, 15:00 - 17:00 Central European Summer Time
  • Chair: Luciano Pinotti, University of Milan (Italy)
Registration closed: 12/04/2022 4:00 pm Central European Time

EAAP has been delivering programs on animal science for over 70 years. After careful planning, we are this year going to provide some outstanding webinars by inviting top speakers who will introduce subjects related to animal science and livestock industry to scientists and technicians.

The Webinar series is planned to be organized monthly to inform, update, disseminate with high profile speakers the EAAP individual members. Apart from exceptions due to organizational issues, the EAAP Webinars will be held monthly, in the afternoon of the second Tuesday of the month.

The eleventh EAAP Webinar titled Feeding the Green Deal: Specialty Feed Ingredients’ Contribution to Environmental Sustainability is organized in collaboration with FEFANA (EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures). FEFANA is a European Union trade association of the animal feed additives industry. Its membership comprises manufacturers and traders of feed additives, functional feed ingredients, premixes and other mixtures of specialty ingredients that enter the food chain via feed. FEFANA facilitates the dialogue between EU institutions and feed business operators while promoting feed and food safety and a fair and competitive market.

The first presentation will be given by Philippe Becquet from “The International Feed Industry Federation” (Germany) on “The FAO Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Guidelines on the environmental performance of feed additives in livestock supply chains and their practical implementation”. Ermias Kebreab from “UCI Davis” (USA) will then talk about “The Specialty Feed Ingredients Sustainability Project: An LCA approach to assessing the environmental impact of using specialty feed ingredients in swine and poultry”. Finally, the last talk will be on “A non-exhaustive literature overview on additives used for mitigating methane and nitrogen emissions in livestock farming” by Nicola Walker from “DSM Global” (The Netherlands).

By attending EAAP Webinars, you will be able to stay on top of the latest research and gain new inspiration. Connect and network through a range of interactive presentations, discussions and workshops. Get updates on the latest results and opinions about animal science and the livestock industry. You can use this program also to teach your students.

All registered participants will receive a Zoom link a few days before the webinar. We invite you to check the spam as well. If you need support with your registration, please contact liguori@eaap.org or danilo@eaap.org.
